DBTC Goes to Korea: BWF Woncheon Yonex Miryang Korea Junior International Challenge 2024

International exposure, competitive matches, and valuable learning experiences in Korea.

DBTC players recently travelled to Miryang, Korea to participate in the BWF Woncheon Yonex Miryang Korea Junior International Challenge 2024 , gaining valuable exposure on the international stage.

Led by Coach Tan Min Er , the team represented DBTC in a highly competitive environment, competing against junior athletes from various countries and experiencing the pace, intensity, and standards of international badminton.

Competing overseas provided our players with more than just match results. It challenged them to adapt to different playing styles, manage tournament pressure, and develop resilience. All essential qualities for long-term growth as competitive athletes.

Throughout the tournament, the players demonstrated discipline, teamwork, and strong sportsmanship, while learning how to perform under unfamiliar conditions away from home.

Beyond Competition

Beyond the matches, the trip also strengthened a strong sense of togetherness within the team.

Travelling, training, and preparing together allowed players and coaches to connect more closely supporting one another through wins, losses, and everyday moments throughout the journey. These shared experiences helped build trust, confidence, and unity both on and off the court.

Moments like these turn international trips into more than just tournaments, they become meaningful memories that shape character and team spirit.

Growing Through International Exposure

Participating in overseas competitions remains an important part of DBTC’s development pathway. Exposure to higher levels of play helps our athletes broaden their perspectives, raise their standards, and better understand what it takes to compete globally.

The Korea trip marked another step forward in our players’ growth, both as badminton athletes and as individuals.

DBTC Goes to China: Training & Competition Journey 2024

A week of competition, intensive training, and international exposure for our DBTC players in Shenzhen and Chengdu.

From 24 May to 1 June 2024, DBTC players embarked on a meaningful training and competition journey to China, combining international tournament participation with high-intensity training sessions in Shenzhen and Chengdu.

Shenzhen — 2024 Yonex Youth Badminton Tournament

24–26 May 2024

Our players took part in the 2024 Yonex Youth Badminton Tournament held in Shenzhen, gaining valuable international match experience against strong regional opponents.

Tournament Results:

GS U9 — Althea Yeo ��
BS U9 — Zack Low ��
BS U11 — Ong Jun Yang ��
GS U10 — Chen Yan Zhen — 5th place
BS U8 — Ye Han Qing — 5th place

These results reflected not only strong competitive performance, but also the players’ composure, resilience, and adaptability in an international tournament environment.

We would like to acknowledge Tong Wah Teo, World Champion Gong Rui Na, and Malaysia National Team Coach Allan Tai for their guidance, mentorship, and invaluable support throughout the competition phase.

Chengdu — Intensive Training Camp

26 May – 1 June 2024

Following the tournament, the team continued to Chengdu for an intensive training camp, where players underwent structured daily training sessions focused on:

Technical refinement
Tactical development
Match play exposure
Physical conditioning

The training environment provided valuable insight into high-performance training standards, allowing players to experience disciplined routines, long training hours, and competitive sparring sessions against strong local athletes.

Beyond technical improvement, the Chengdu camp also strengthened players’ mental resilience, discipline, and independence. It's essential qualities for long-term athlete development.

This China trip offered our players a comprehensive learning experience by combining international competition, elite training exposure, and cultural immersion. It served as an important milestone in their development journey, broadening perspectives and strengthening motivation.

The Shenzhen and Chengdu programs reflected DBTC’s continued commitment to providing holistic development opportunities that go beyond routine training, supporting both sporting growth, personal development and what made the journey truly special was the sense of togetherness, the moments of laughter, shared meals, and simple connections that turned the trip into lasting memories.

DBTC ELO Challenge Championship 2024

A community-driven championship bringing together players, parents, and coaches on court.

The DBTC ELO Challenge Championship 2024 (Open) was organised as a fun and inclusive in-house tournament, designed to bring together DBTC players, parents, and coaches as participants, creating a shared playing experience across all levels.

Open to all members of the DBTC community, the championship adopted an ELO-based match format, allowing participants of different standards to compete in balanced and engaging match-ups. This format encouraged fair play, learning, and healthy competition, while giving every participant the opportunity to experience meaningful match play.

One of the highlights of the event was seeing players, parents, and coaches competing side by side, fostering a strong sense of connection, mutual understanding, and appreciation for each other’s roles both on and off the court. The atmosphere throughout the day was energetic and positive, filled with encouragement, laughter, and friendly rivalry.

Beyond competition, the event served as a platform for community bonding, where families and coaches could interact in a relaxed setting, strengthening relationships and building lasting memories. Winners and standout performances were recognised with gifts and tokens of appreciation, adding excitement and motivation for all participants.

Events like the ELO Challenge Championship play an important role in building confidence, deepening engagement, and nurturing a supportive badminton community.

DBTC at SBA Annual Dinner 2024 — Soaring New Heights

A meaningful evening where players, partners, and the badminton community came together to celebrate progress and shared aspirations for the sport.

DBTC was honoured to be invited to attend the SBA Annual Dinner 2024, a meaningful evening that brought together members of the Singapore badminton community to celebrate progress, partnerships, and shared aspirations for the sport.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) for inviting our DBTC players to be part of this special occasion. It was a memorable experience for our athletes to witness the collective efforts that continue to shape the development of badminton in Singapore.

This year’s theme, “Soaring New Heights,” reflected not only the achievements of Singapore badminton, but also the excitement surrounding the upcoming Singapore Badminton Arena at Guillemard, a facility that will further strengthen training and development opportunities for players across all levels.

We would also like to commend the SBA management committee and secretariat for their dedication and hard work in organising a successful and inspiring evening.

At DBTC, we believe that exposure to such events helps our players gain a broader perspective beyond training and competition, fostering appreciation, motivation, and a deeper connection to the badminton community.

DBTC Singapore Shines at WONCHEON YONEX Korea Junior International Challenge 2023

Representing DBTC Singapore with pride, our team embarked on a remarkable journey to Korea for the prestigious WONCHEON YONEX Korea Junior International Challenge 2023, held from November 27th to December 3rd, 2023.

Led by coaches Chiang King Hua and Tan Min Er, accompanied by the unwavering support of parents, our contingent of 14 talented players, comprising 7 girls and 7 boys, embraced the challenge of competing on an international stage.

Despite the fact we missed out on victory, the experience was invaluable as our players had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a new competition environment amidst the winter chill in Korea at that time. They faced off against tough opponents from countries including China, Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Thailand, showcasing their skills and determination with each match.

While the podium remained out of reach, our players exhibited incredible resilience and sportsmanship, leaving a lasting impression with their excellent performance.

Beyond the competition, our time in Korea was filled with joy, bonds, and unforgettable experiences. Exploring the vibrant culture, savoring local delicacies, and creating memories together, we embraced every moment with enthusiasm and gratitude.

The journey to Korea not only provided our players with a platform to showcase their talents but also enriched their lives with invaluable lessons and memories that will endure for years to come.

As we reflect on our time at the WONCHEON YONEX Korea Junior International Challenge 2023, we celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship, bonds, and personal growth that defines the essence of DBTC Singapore.

Christmas Celebration: A Joyous Gathering at DBTC

On 25th of December 2023, DTBC rang in the holiday season with a memorable Christmas celebration together with all the coaches, parents, and our players who came together for an evening filled with warmth and laughter.

Our party were alive with laughter and joy as everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner and indulged in the delightful flavors of Lok-Lok from a special food truck provided by the club.

Gift exchanges, games, and friendly competitions added to the excitement of the evening, creating cherished memories and strengthening the bonds within our badminton family.

As we bid farewell to another year, the spirit of togetherness and bonds shared at our Christmas gathering will continue to inspire us in the days ahead.

Success and Bonding at BANDA BARU LI NING Badminton Championships 2023

Representing DBTC Singapore led by our visionary founder, Rachel Lim Phei Yee and coach Jason Tee Hua Jie, our team embarked on a memorable journey to Indonesia for the BANDA BARU LI NING Badminton Championships 2023, held from November 28th to December 2nd.

Despite tough competition, our players showcased remarkable talent and determination, securing numerous second and third place finishes. Competing in Indonesia provided a new experience, exposing our players to diverse opponents from around the world and broadening their perspectives.

The support of each parent was invaluable throughout the tournament, cheering on our players every step of the way and contributing to our collective success.

Following the tournament, we embraced the opportunity to unwind and bond as a team. Our time in Batam was filled with laughter and bonding as players, parents, and Coaches came together to enjoy the swimming pool and create lasting memories.

The BANDA BARU LI NING Badminton Championships 2023 was more than just a competition; it was a testament to the strength of our team and the bonds that unite us. We look forward to building on this success and forging even deeper connections in the future.
